Just a two-hour drive from Dubrovnik lies Medjugorje, one of Europe’s most renowned Marian pilgrimage sites, which offers a perfect opportunity for a meaningful day trip! Medjugorje is a town in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its story changed forever in June 1981 when six local children reported seeing an apparition of the Virgin Mary in a nearby hamlet. From that moment, life in Medjugorje has never been the same. Despite efforts by the former Yugoslav regime to suppress the phenomenon, pilgrims continued to arrive, undeterred by the oppression. What makes Medjugorje unique is the ongoing nature of the apparitions – some among the original visionaries claim to still experience them today.
